Panorama Software Seamlessly Integrates Business Intelligence with Business Process Management

Company Announces New Platform that Enables BPM Vendors to Easily Add BI to Existing Solutions

Toronto, Ontario – July 5, 2007 – Panorama Software, a global leader in Proactive Business Intelligence (PBI) solutions, today unveiled its plans to provide unique capabilities of providing seamless integration of BI with leading Business Process Management (BPM) solutions as part of its proactive Business Intelligence roadmap.

“BI and BPM markets are converging,” said Eynav Azarya, CEO, Panorama Software. “BI today is about actions with context and business processes are becoming less and less manually-driven. When we recently announced our Proactive BI roadmap we decided to be the first BI software company that provides the ability to bring BI and BPM closer together to enable structured actions and to automate business processes.”

Industry leaders continue to talk about the importance of BI and BPM. According to Forrester Research, as cited in the June 19, 2007 issue of DBTA 5 Minute Briefing: Data Integration, “industry analysts believe that BI and BPM will increasingly converge. “I see at least three ways BI and processes, workflow, and rules will converge,” said Boris Evelson, principal analyst, business intelligence, at Forrester Research. “At the least complex level, he anticipates convergence starting in the area of dashboards and business activity monitoring, which combine data and process dashboards, and then the emergence of actionable BI, in which processes are triggered by data conditions. Finally, the real convergence of BI with business process management and business rules management will emerge in which, reports, dashboards and analytics are seamlessly imbedded into every step of a business process to empower decision-making.”

“The first wave of convergence in the BI industry was between BI and CPM. The goal was to complete the solution for the CFO’s office,” said Oudi Antebi, Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, Panorama Software. ”The second wave ahead of us is the convergence of BI and BPM. This convergence will complete the convergence for operational departments across the organization where processes and transactions are at the core of the business.”

These new capabilities from Panorama will provide two advanced features including:

  • The ability to “initiate” a process or workflow directly from within the BI tool. (When a user finds an insight, a right click will present all the available processes and workflows available to him to take action upon in a context sensitive way.)
  • The ability to “drag and drop” a BI object inside a workflow design tool. (This will enable automating business processes by integrating smart data into a process decision point.)

“These capabilities support our PBI strategy by focusing on the relevant, taking structured actions and automating business processes, said Azarya. “After years of research, development and strategy to build PBI solutions, we are now putting all the puzzle pieces in place to execute our three pillars of PBI. Leveraging these open platform capabilities will enable companies to realize tangible benefits from PBI.”

Panorama Software has chosen to deliver its first integration with Pegasystems SmartBPM® solution and recently announced its participation in the Pega Exchange. “BI and BPM aligning more closely is a very powerful value proposition for organizations with significant potential benefits for our customers,” said Ben Frenkel, Strategic Business Development, Pegasystems Inc. “We are excited to work with Panorama to help make our joint vision of enriching companies’ businesses through world-class technology a reality, and look forward to next steps in working with them.”
