You can define a member selection for a dimension as a set. Sets are stored and become available for selection from other views containing the same dimension. The administrator can save sets in the Public folder; users can save sets in their private folders.
Sets can be defined using
· MDX via the Custom Set property in Data Properties.
To create a set from highlighted members:
1. Highlight the relevant members of a dimension: To highlight adjacent members, click the first member, and then hold down Shift and click the last member. To highlight nonadjacent members, click the first member, and then hold down Ctrl and click additional members.
2. Open a member menu from any one of the highlighted members and select Create Set from Highlighted Members.
3. In the Save as Set dialog box, click on the folder where you want to save the set.
To save it as a private set, click the Private sets button. If your private sets are organized in folders, click the folder where you want to save the current set.
To save it to another user’s folder (if you have permission), click the User’s sets button.
Type a Name for this set.
Click OK to save the set in the folder you have selected.
To create a set by selecting members:
1. Click on the dimension heading and select Select members from the dimension menu.
2. In the Select Members in <Dimension> dialog box, click on a member in the All Members panel and click the arrow to move it to the Selected panel, or just double-click a member.
Select Allow drill down on selected members if you want to allow drilling down to lower levels of hierarchy for the selected members.
3. You can include a defined set in a new set you are creating. To display the other sets defined for the current dimension, click the Sets button.
4. When you select a set from the list and move it to the Selected panel, you can click on it and then on the Expand Set button in order to see the members it includes.
To remove a member from the set, clear the member’s check box. Use the Select All and Unselect
buttons as needed. Click OK.
5. Click the Save Set button to save the selection as a set.
6. In the Save as Set dialog box, click on the folder where you want to save the set.
To save it as a private set, click the Private sets button. If your private sets are organized in folders, click the folder where you want to save the current set.
To save it to another user’s folder (if you have permission), click the User’s sets button.
Type a Name for this set.
Click OK to save the set in the folder you have selected.
