Overview

Necto Insights is an analytics tool that explores all the layers of the data in a view to detect the key events and trends in the data, and uncover anomalies. Insights let you concentrate immediately on the issues and critical changes in your data and focus your analysis.

Insights can be generated in three modes:

·       Revelation: In this mode, Necto looks for insights in the entire data set using all the relevant dimensions in the view, and generates them automatically based on the current insight settings.

·       Exception based: In this mode, Necto looks for insights in data cells highlighted by Exceptions and Quick Exceptions, and presents the most notable exceptional values as insights.

·       Handpicked: In this mode, Necto turns a user-selected data cell into an insight for a deeper understanding of the cell value.

An insight looks like a flashcard presenting data in graphical format.

The insight design is based on the default infographics template. The Workboard property Visual Insights Template can be used to select another template.

At the top of the insight are the members of the cell value (in the above example: Excess Amount, Digital Cameras) and the cell (insight) value (169). Below the line, you will see the previous value (129.80), the increase/decrease (39.20), and the increase/decrease percentage (30.2%). At the bottom are lines indicating the trend in the relevant period.

The insight tooltip provides an explanation for the displayed figures.

The Insights tab on the workboard ribbon contains all the options for selecting insight modes and for working with insights.

When creating a new workboard, the Insights template can be used to populate the workboard with automatically generated insights (revelation). The workboard will contain insights that highlight what is important in the data source.
