Slicing from the Slicers Pane

You can slice data by one or more members of a dimension in the Slicers Pane.

While slicing, you can perform member selection so that only the members you are using for slicing will show in the slicer.

To slice data:

1.      In the Slicers Pane, click the slicer tab to display its members.

2.      If necessary, expand members to display child members.

3.      Select the member with which you want to slice.

To select multiple members, use Ctrl-click or Shift-click.

4.      If you want the slicer to show only the selected members, click  and select Select highlighted members.

The slicer now shows only the selected members. Notice that by default only the first one is selected for slicing. To slice by other members, select them.

5.      You can use the Hide Highlighted Members option to hide members in a slicer. Click  and select Hide Highlighted Members.

To restore the hidden members to the slicer, click  on any member and select Show Hidden Members.

6.      You can select members also by using the Member Selection  option on the slicer tab. Choose Select Members from the menu.

To slice data by the total of the members in a member selection, use the Sub Totals option: First, perform the member selection with the Select Members option. Then, select the Sub Totals option from the menu.

The subtotal appears in the list of members, and can be used for slicing.

To remove member selection, select the Remove Selection option from the Member Selection menu.

7.      To slice by an additional dimension, repeat Steps 1-3.

8.      Click Apply.

In the Slicers Pane, the members used for slicing appear in parentheses next to the dimension name.
